Smith + Andersen's commitment to proper building turnover (commisioning) began in 1992 through the creation of CFMS Consulting Inc. We understand that it is critical that building systems are commissioned and that building operators are aware of the design intent to ensure maximum operational efficiency over the life cycle of the building. Commissioning is now a specifically recognized element of a sustainable building as quantified by LEED®. In fact, in 2007 in reponse to requirements that commissioning be independent to the engineers, Smith + Andersen sold its ownership in the CFMS Consulting Inc to its employees. Thus CFMS became a wholly independent company with a solid strategic alliance with Smith + Andersen for the commisioning our system designs.
