Lewis is an experienced professional engineer with a vast scope of project experience addressing controls, plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems in new and existing buildings. Millions of square feet of fit-out and retrofit projects across all sectors of the industry have built the foundation of Lewis’ knowledge on cost-effective, practical, and sustainable solutions. He believes in providing the client with a value-added product and an efficient design that makes sense for the end-user and owner.

Since joining Smith + Andersen in 2014, Lewis has applied his expertise to enhance the design of high-rise mixed-use, multi-family residential, large retail, food service, institutional, light industrial, innovation centres, parking, and office spaces. Prioritizing cost-effective sustainable designs, Lewis leverages controls, systems integration, and modern technology to make the most out of existing infrastructure. He has successfully implemented Combined Heat Power (CHP) and cogeneration systems into many plants, as well as modified countless existing systems to improve heat recovery, high-efficiency / low carbon operations, and controls to reduce energy usage.

He currently leads the Calgary building assessment and improvements group (BAIG), encouraging a strong sense of urgency within the team that specializes in site investigation, studies, condition assessment, capital planning, building repair and retrofits, upgrades, and building optimization. Under Lewis’ leadership, this team frequently acts as Prime Consultant, providing critical team members for dynamic multi-disciplinary consulting teams.
