University of Guelph - OVC Pathobiology & Animal Health Laboratory

A major, and required, expansion to the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC), this new building incorporates the Animal Health Lab (AHL) - a 24/7 centralized testing facility for Southern Ontario where samples are received from veterinarians throughout the province for detailed analysis. The AHL also receives samples from the large and small animal hospital within the OVC campus through a pneumatic tube system. The AHL consists of a necropsy suite designed for large animal autopsies along with two floors of state-of-the-art testing facilities. The Pathobiology department occupies the other two floors containing animal research laboratory faculties, wet teaching laboratories, 120-seat lecture theatre, seminar rooms, and office space. This project has achieved LEED Silver Certification.

The building utilize campus central services for heating, cooling and various laboratory services. The building contains a new 13.8kV main service to the campus that is re-feeding the other three substations within the OVC complex. There are also two 500kW generators to supply power.
