Since 1993, Smith + Andersen has been involved in master plan work and miscellaneous upgrades to this prominent historical building. The master planning process that took place in 1993 included design development for phased implementation. The intent: To upgrade the building to the (then) current standards with respect to HVAC, plumbing and the life safety system.
Construction projects to date have fully renovated numerous areas including a full HVAC retrofit of the main legislative chamber. The work has improved the Ontario Legislative Assembly offices, support areas, as well as areas designated for the public. In 2015, the master plan work was refreshed with a focus on life safety which was later expanded into a complete overview of mechanical systems.
