A valued member of the Smith + Andersen team since 2012, Saron brings a strong, detail-oriented approach to both her leadership style and her projects. She has applied her mechanical expertise and extensive knowledge of sustainable building practices to the benefit of clients across Canada, with a particular focus in commercial, healthcare, and government facilities. 

Saron’s skill at balancing detailed design requirements with big-picture concepts contributes to creative and effective mechanical solutions for projects such as the award-winning Platform Innovation Centre & Parkade in Calgary and the UXBorough redevelopment project at the former Stadium Shopping Centre site (also in Calgary). Fluent in English, French, and Tigrigna, Saron’s diverse communication skills combine with this creative problem-solving ability to put clients at ease. 

Saron is a passionate mentor to the young engineers she works with, and is an active member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Southern Alberta Chapter, where she has held several roles, including Secretary-Treasurer, Vice-President, and, most recently, President for the 2021-2022 term. She is also a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and a certified LEED Green Associate.
